Committing To Life

Committing, Celebrating and Growing through Life

I will be reposting my blogs from my very first blog found on Google+. The journey didn’t begin here. I am also still astounded by the lessons I learned. Now that I’m at my 2nd stage of healing and learning: the one of applying lessons and growing I will revisit and share the insight.

Happy Reading and Introspection.
Here is one on Perseverance 🙂

You cannot complain about the shadows when your back is constantly turned towards the sun, life is exactly that. The line “life is what you make of it” means exactly that. You are here now, you and all your weaknesses and fears, scars and painful past – you are here. You and all your confusion and remorse – you are still standing. Within the chaos and trauma you are still breathing. Am I the only weird person who sees a warrior within all of us? That a powerful force resides within our souls that simply wants to survive?

Olympic champions seldom ever rest to get that medal. Why then do we want to savour the succulent fruits of life without lifting a finger or giving up before we reach the finish line? Read any success story out there of some powerful person and it will be lined, grounded and laced with blood, sweat, tears and raw perseverance.

Life has an innumerable number of possibilities and greatness – only if you will turn around and face the sun. It gets hard and we want to give up – we are human. However, whether you are running, walking or even crawling – you simply have to keep moving.

Let’s challenge ourselves to making the best of this moment that we are in. Forget about the shackles that hold us to our past and they will release themselves, don’t worry about the future ,because if we savour and take care of the present wholeheartedly, the future will take care of itself.

Smile, laugh and dream. Love and appreciate the beauty around you. Commit to your life. 🙂

I stood, as if on the precipice of a cliff, summing up energy to plunge into the New Year. This is how the beginning of 2012 felt to me. I was scared, I was tired, I was eager for change and was playing a treacherous game of “Shall we live or Should we die?” in my head. 2011 was the year of my gap year and I knew that in 2012 I had to think fast and act swiftly.

I am a person who thrives on routines and clear plans and here yet here I was, facing a brand new year with no clear intention and direction. I was terrified. From being the super orderly nerd in highschool to an Engineering dropout who’s mind had survived a whirlwind of confusion and discontent – I did not recognise the young woman who’s eyes looked more like those of a petrified 4 year old who had lost her mother in a shopping mall.

This blog ofcourse is not a biography of my life so I really cannot go into lengthy details, but I can always use it to profile snippets of my experiences to drive my message across. So, I will not delve deeper.

How do we shift our minds from the stumble to the possibilities that are before us? How do we detach from yesterday and focus on today? How do we remain deeply rooted in the present and not get swayed by the winds we fear from the future?

It all comes with a decision. The first plunge. Closing your eyes, taking a deep breath and leaping into the unknown. It is actually funny how when we make our minds about where we want to be and truly believe that we may get there the universe and everyone around us will shift and position themselves to accommodate the path we are creating and treading.
The journey won’t be short of any obstacles. Calm seas have never made skillful sailors. We’ll get discouraged and we’ll think about turning back. Forgetting that yesterday has dissipated into thin air and hangs as a mere memory.

I drafted this blog on 02/01/2013 and somehow could not complete it till today. I’m guessing some force out there did not want some clichĂ©d “new year post”. 🙂

We are here, anyway. Despite everything and the doubts we or others had. I’m not sure what journey each of you are going on but rest assured, we are all on an amazing path that leads us to where we ought to be.

Commit to your dreams. Commit to your goals. Stay steadfast. Start that business plan. Buy that book. Say hello to that girl. Make that phonecall. Take the plunge.

Let’s Go!!
